Custom Apparel Care Instructions
Keeping your customized apparel looking good isn’t difficult, but it requires following a few cleaning best practices. Use these basic steps to keep your special designs looking great for years to come.
T-Shirts, Hoodies, & Sweatshirts
The best way to clean personalized tops and extend their life is by hand washing, but that’s not always practical. So we’ve summarized the steps:
Machine Washing
- Wash inside out
- Wash using cold water
- Use the gentle cycle, unless heavily soiled
- Do not iron print or embroidered areas
- Tumble dry on a low heat setting, or lay flat and air dry
- Do not dry clean
Hand Washing
- Pre-treat soiled areas with a stain remover spray
- Wash inside out
- Wash using cold water and mild detergent
- Gently buff stains with a clean washcloth
- Soak in soapy water for 10+ minutes
- Rinse thoroughly with cool water and gently wring out
- Hang on a rounded hanger to air dry

Hats
Hands down, the best way to clean a custom hat is by hand washing. While that may not be reasonable for some, any alternative may produce an undesirable result. Here are the basics:
Hand Washing
- Pre-treat soiled areas with a stain remover spray
- Soak in warm water with mild detergent for 30 minutes
- Gently scrub with a soft brush until clean
- Air dry on a round form, like an upside-down bowl
This method won the test described in our blog post How to Wash a Hat.
